Mossy Woods Wirewrapped Necklace

I created this lovely necklace with moss agate leaf beads and tree agate rounds. I surrounded the central leaf pendant with 20 gauge wire wrapped with 26 gauge sterling wire and hill tribe silver beads. All wire is sterling for the wraps in this necklace and the individual links.
I had been debating on how to do the pendant for this necklace for a long time-and last night inspiration struck-I'm really happy with the results! :)

Water Colors Wirewrapped Adjustable Sterling Bangle Bracelet

I created this gorgeous bangle by wrapping 20 gauge wire around a 14 gauge core. I added this lovely US artisan lampwork bead and sterling beads for a dramatic flair.

RULES:

Play this way ... Holiday Hide & Seek:

Simply hunt through the shops below and look for the BBEST avatar seen above. It is randomly placed in one listing item photo slot in some of our shops.

Find the avatar. Copy the listing ID of each item. When you've found 10, convo the BBEST shop with that list AND come to this thread and post that you've done so. Do not reveal any hidden avatar locations to any eligible players. Your name will be entered into our random prize drawing! Limit one entry per etsian.

EXEMPT from this version are those team members who have a hidden avatar in their shops. EXEMPT from both versions are joonbeam, chauncey and sixsisters who are the team leaders and organizers of this sale and game.

Play this way:

Support Handmade. Save Money. For every $1 you spend in our participating shops, listed below, your name will be entered into the random prize drawing. All three prize packages will be given away.

a.) You must enter BBEST in the notes to seller upon checkout.

b.) only complete dollar amounts (ie. $7.65 = 7 entries) from each shop count. No amounts less than $1 will be combined between or among multiple shop purchases.

c.) the final sale price dollar amounts coincide with your entries . In other words, regardless of when the discounted price is finalized, the discounted total dollars determine the number of entries. (For example, some sale transactions are handled via convo / reserved listing with the sale price, others purchase and get a revised invoice.) If a shop has a mix of sale (reduced price) items and non sale items, all purchases do count toward your dollar amounts.

d.) excludes shipping/handling costs. Item costs only.

e.) Only purchase dollars from transactions with the shops in this list and made between 12:01AM Etsy Time, November 12, 2008 and 11:59 PM etsy time, November 17, 2008 qualify.

Winners will be announced on our team blog: http://boomersandbeyond.blogspot.com on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at NOON Etsy Time. You must come by and look for the winner's etsy ID names listed there. Winners have 3 (three) days to convo the teambbest shop with their mailing address or forfeit their prize and subsequent names will be drawn.

You can play either or both ways. Odds of winning depend on number of entries received.

Each shop owner has their own sale style and terms, which you will find in their shop announcement.
We are all convo friendly. Do not hesitate to contact us with your questions or requests! Thank you for shopping with us and HaPpY HoLiDaYs!

Welll y'all America has elected a new President, it's time to say goodbye to George W.

While large corners of the world are busy celebrating Obama's presidential victory there will be some people feeling slightly deflated to see George Bush step down as US president.

Over the past eight years Bush has provided us with endless amusement as a result of his faux pas or ‘Bushisms' as they've been dubbed. Here are twenty of our favourites.

20. "Those who enter the country illegally violate the law." - Nov. 28, 2005

19. "We don't believe in planners and deciders making the decisions on behalf of Americans." - Sept. 6, 2000

18. "If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." - Dec. 19, 2000

17. "Well, I think if you say you're going to do something and don't do it, that's trustworthiness." - Aug. 30, 2000

16. "I think we agree, the past is over." - May 10, 2000

15. "I understand small business growth. I was one." - Feb. 19, 2000

14. "This foreign policy stuff is a little frustrating." - April 23, 2002

13. "I want everybody to hear loud and clear that I'm going to be the president of everybody." - Jan. 18, 2001

12. "One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures." - Jan. 3, 2000

11. "I was proud the other day when both Republicans and Democrats stood with me in the Rose Garden to announce their support for a clear statement of purpose: you disarm, or we will." - Oct. 5, 2002

10. "I just want you to know that when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace." - June 18, 2002

9. "I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein." - May 25, 2004

8. "I firmly believe the death tax is good for people from all walks of life all throughout our society." - Aug. 13, 2002

7. "There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again." - Sept. 17, 2002

6. "The truth of that matter is, if you listen carefully, Saddam would still be in power if he were the president of the United States, and the world would be a lot better off." - Oct. 8, 2004

5. "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully." - Sept. 29, 2000

4. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." - Aug. 5, 2004

3. "Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" - Jan. 11, 2000

2. "I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family." - Jan. 27, 2000

1. "They misunderestimated me." - Nov. 6, 2000

Amazonite! Yeah I love it-don't you?

Well my wire protecters that I ordered a week ago finally came in today...I ordered them because I well misplaced my others. I'm hoping now that I have some more that I'll find the ones I lost...
Anyway, I'd been hovering over this amazonite necklace for a week, fondling the beads daily-very anxious to finish it off! I love this pendant-and the necklace-don't you? :)

Can't stay away from the wire!

Yeah, so when I run out I'ma gonna cry! I'm addicted...I admit it. I'd say somebody help me, but yeah I like this addiction, and I'm not hurting anyone! (Except for me when my pliers slip and I pinch myself with them...)

New Sterling Bangle!

Well, been meaning to make another sterling bangle for a while, but I really hated to use my last bit of sterling 14 gauge wire-now it's all gone! /pout
Ah well, I had to use it sometime, and I had promised Lolly (from the about.com jewelry making forum) that my next one was going to be red...so this one's in tribute to Lolly! :)

My son talks with his hands

My son talks with his hands, and I find it just as adorable now that he's 16 as I did when he was 2.
In this picture he's explaining to me about one of the rides he went on at Bush Garden's this weekend. He had to tell me all about every ride he went on-complete with hand gestures! :)

Nothing new but I did create a treasury

I've created nothing new in a few days (due to a bad anaphalytic reaction this weekend making me feel like crap for 5 days or so after). But I did create this lovely treasury-take a look please!

Hooked on Wire

Yeah, well...I've think I'm addicted to working with sterling wire...is it time to start a 10 program? (or is it 12-hmm...I might need at least 12 steps)

Soldalite Cuff or I did wind up making something today

Well, I did finally wind up making something today-a 3 strand sodalite cuff-made on memory wire! My friends on the about.com jewelry making forum have been asking me when I was going to make another memory wire cuff because my other one sold...back before Christmas. But I remember why it took me so long to make another now-it's such a pain in the arse! LOL! ah well, it'll prolly be a long time before I make another.

Twittering

Well, nothing new for a few days, but I did join twitter-and it's so addictive! So, if you're on twitter and want to follow me I'm http://twitter.com/kittydjewelry
Hopefully by tonight I'll have something new to post!

Turquoise and Butteryfly

I added this to my shop yesterday...lovely val verde turquoise necklace-24 inches long with this show stopping resin butterfly pendant floating from the bottom. The pendant is 2.25 inches wide by 2 inches long-it's glorious!

On a personal note, car still isn't working so the job hunt is on hold until I can get the car fixed...hard to find a job I can walk to when I live over 10 miles from the nearest town...

In the meantime, I'm having fun making jewelry-promised myself I would try to add at least one new item to my etsy shop a day...

My 16 year old boy was home sick all week last week...took him to the doctor and she said sinus infection. But even on antibiotics he was having chills and fever all week. He might of had a sinus infection, but I think he also had something else with it. He went back to school yesterday-and I miss him. But, I'm glad he's better!
Oh yeah I have a lovely treasury with bbest members going on right now-please show it some luvin'!

New Copper Bangle!

I added this copper bangle to my store yesterday-it has red lampwork beads in it-yummy! My friend Lolly from the about.com jewelry making forums would love this one I think! :)

New Sterling Wire Wrapped Bangle

I've made a lot of these bangles in copper, but finally tackled one in sterling today. I love this gorgeous focal bead (made by a SRA from the US), isn't it gorgeous?

For the bangle, I handwrapped 20 gauge wire around a 14 gauge core. I love that this style bangle is adjustable.

One day at a time...

Hey y'all,

I've decided since I'm currently well in search of gainful employment shall we say...that I will try to start adding one item a day to my etsy shop. That means getting offa my butt and making one item a day, or more-I can always add things to the Arts of the Albemarle gallery in downtown Elizabeth City too! I've sold several pieces in there recently. :) Anyway, here's my latest-in my favorite color!

More Jewelry!

Well, I've sold a few pieces offline (and a couple online) lately-so I decided it was time to add to my shop today...playing with a new background too..instead of covering up the weathered wood on my porch window sills, trying using it uncovered...lol! Still not sure whether I like it or not.

Friday, September 26, 2008

I'm featured on another Etsy seller's blog!

Bliss Candles is a very sweet etsy seller who featured me on here blog today! Here's the link:
http://blisscandles.blogspot.com/

PS I'm cheating today, instead of writing a blog-I'm sending you elsewhere to read one...hmm...I like this lazy method-may have to do it more often! /grin

Daughter's dragon pendant

Well my daughter saw me make a dragon so she finally decided to play with the clay again, and here is the result-she had to show me up by making a much more delicate dragon-lol! :)

This adorable red dragon focal pendant was made by my even more adorable 21 year old daughter-isn't she talented? We both love playing in the clay. The dragon measures 2.75 inches across and 3 inches from the top of the wings to bottom of pendant. The stringing hole is located between his wings. The pendant was made from red polymer clay with copper highlights added in and tiger's eye beads, goldstone and carnelian accents.

New dragon focal pendant

Well, I'm definitely back in the game-made my first polymer piece in quite a while yesterday-and of course-it's in my favorite color-purple! /grin

Back In Business

Well y'all, hadn't been making much jewelry in a while, been too busy trying to find a job. But I'm finally excited about it again-so expect to see more from me! Here's my latest-a sterling and amazonite bracelet...I got this yummy pattern from beading daily! Kinda regretting now that I made it too big for me.../grin

Heat treating copper

After reading various posts on the about.com jewelry making forum and on etsy, I decided to experiment with heat treating copper to age it. Here is the results, I'm rather pleased with the way it came out! Thanks for all the informative posts y'all.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Yeah, so it's been a long, long, long time...

Yeah, it's been a long time since I've posted anything...again with the job hunting. When other parts of your life are stressful-it's hard to remember to do the things that bring you joy-including making jewelry and posting about it!

Anyway, even if I haven't been making much jewelry...here's a link to a place where people have-it's a special project that one of the ladies on the about.com forum is involved in, here's A Little Something:

http://refugeecrafts.blogspot.com/

I've certainly enjoyed reading about it!

Green Polymer Clay Dragon Pendant

Well...I've been busy job hunting, and really haven't had time or inclination to make any jewelry lately. =/

But, I finally broke out the polymer clay today and made this adorable little dragon pendant! My daughter's frog pendant sold in my shop this week-we've both been neglecting the polymer a while though-time to get back in gear! :)

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Wow, I've been neglecting my blog...

But here I am back, yeah! I've been busy over the holidays, but wanted to share what I just added to my shop. Brass has become really popular lately, so I wanted to try my hand at it!
I combined it with these vintage moonglow lucite beads that I adore! :)
